android essentials

As you might have heard, Google recently launched Android Enterprise Essentials.

Android Enterprise Essentials is meant to be a lighter, leaner secure management service from Google. Designed to make it easier for your company to protect and manage its mobile devices. Essentials does the hard work of securing your data for you. Your devices come protected, right out of the box.

However, you might wonder what is the difference between the “regular” Android Enterprise and the “essentials” version.
Let’s clarify this.

Android Enterprise Essentials

Is a simple, secure management service sold through resellers.
It has very basic device management features such as
– passcode & encryption enforcement
– malware protection
– remote data wipe
– remote deployment inventory management

It can be applied to workers with lower security and management needs. It helps educate customers on management without bringing a big EMM to the table…yet.

If you need a no-thrills approach with a few devices, this might be the solution you are looking for.

Android Enterprise

This is the comprehensive platform management framework, that is enabled by EMMs such as Appaloosa.
It has advanced management features including:
– app distribution
– separating work from personal data
– configuring settings & networks
– managing devices in kiosk mode

Android Enterprise can be applied to workers with higher security and management needs. It is also preferred if you have a medium to large target user base.
And according to Google, there’s a migration patch from Android Enterprise Essentials to Android Enterprise.

Appaloosa is certified for Android Enterprise, let us know if you have any questions related to its deployment.
